Lusting Lately - The Perfect Turtleneck

I honestly don't think I have ever worn a turtleneck in my life. However, I can't stop daydreaming about the perfect cropped turtleneck tank top! I have been searching endlessly in thrift stores for a turtleneck that I can DIY into my dream top and I have been coming up empty handed. Sure, I find turtlenecks, lots and lots of turtlenecks, but they are always worn out and cut awkwardly. So here is my dilemma, do I keep searching or do I cough up the money and buy the one in the second photo from threadsense?

DIY Inspiration: On the Streets of NYFW

I think I am usually just as excited to see what people wear to the shows at NYFW as I am to see what goes down the runway. Not only do you get to see how some of the world's most fashionable people pull together different designer pieces to make a show stopping outfit but it is also common to see an amazing mix of high and low pieces. Here are a few of the DIY ideas I have gotten from this years street style shots.

Altering and embellishing denim projects are always some of my favorites. I love the idea of adding fun fabric to the waste band of jeans or shorts to make them unique. Plus it is a great way to use up those scraps of fabric I have laying around.

Now this is a photo filled with amazingly dressed women and there are really countless DIY ideas to be taken away from this. However, the one that stands out to me the most is probably also the simplest. I am in love with the cropped turtleneck tank top on the far right. Granted, I don't think I have ever worn a turtleneck before in my life, but if I am going to start this is the way to do it. All I need to do is find a turtleneck at my local thrift store, cut it, and hem it.

Turn an old blazer into a skirt. There are always thousands of old blazers at thrift stores just waiting to be turned into great DIY projects. With the buttons up the front you wouldn't even need to worry about sewing in a zipper, just cut, hem, and take in the sides so that it fits you properly.

Vintage Love

I'm so in love with my newest vintage find I had to quickly snap a photo and show it on here. I found this amazing vintage pearl beaded collar necklace at a local antique store. There, in between the rows of old furniture and antlers, was this bad boy. I instantly knew I had buy it I and really haven't taken it off since.

Thrifted

I had to head to the nearest town over yesterday to do boring adult like things such as taxes and get eye exam, so I hit up a few thrift stores while I was there and am ever I glad I did, just think of all the project that will come out of this! Knee length hot pink leather skirt that fits like a glove, I'm thinking a great hot pink leather mini (which there is a good chance I will never wear) with maybe enough leather left to make an envelope clutch as well. The colorful printed skirt reminded me of Prudence, all it needs a a hem and maybe an iron. Coral colored maxi for four dollars, I couldn't say no. And the gem of the day the leather fringe vest!  I may never take this off, with all this talk of festival wear and Coachella. Next year i'll be ready!  Oh and the plaid blazer, I know its the wrong season but .....
